Development of New Chemical Transformation
Our group is interested to develop various new methods in organic transformation. As a part of this we are very much keen about benzoimidazole and pyrimidine chemistry. As benzimidazole and pyrimidine are the most bioactive heterocyclic compounds that exhibit a wide range of biological activities. Specifically, benzimidazole nucleus is a constituent of vitamin B12 and many other pharmacologically active compounds and pyrimidine is a constituent of thymine, uracil and cytosine in nucleic acids.
Designing Smart Organic Molecule for Leather Industry
The leather industry is the oldest technology for the production of various products from animal skins. Tanning is one of the important processes to convert hide/skin to leather. There are three key tanning agents which include chrome tanning, vegetable tanning and synthetic tanning that are used to make leather from hide/skin of animal. Our group is involved to synthesise new generation of smart synthetic tanning agent.
Total Syntheses of Biologically Active Natural Products
One of the primary driving forces in the progression of organic chemistry has been total synthesis of natural compounds. Our target is to use natural products as research platforms and objects to pursue higher synthesis efficiency, identify and comprehend new reaction properties, and enhance selectivity in chemical processes.
